SAFETY FIRST:
There is a lot of misinformation about the use and safety of essential oils, and much of this relates to ‘fragrance’ or ‘perfume’ grade oils — these types of oils are synthetically manufactured and offer no therapeutic or medicinal results. These are substandard oils and should NEVER be used for on your pets or humans.
WHAT/WHERE ARE YOU BUYING?
Synthetic fragrances are dangerous to you and your pet. Over 90% of the chemicals used to create them are derived from petro-chemicals. They include benzene derivatives (carcinogenic), aldehydes, toluene and many other known toxic chemicals linked to cancer, birth defects, central nervous system disorders and allergic reactions.
*Some Criteria to Consider When Choosing Essential Oils:
Third party testing for purity and manufacturing standards. Essential oil companies who voluntarily have their products tested for quality are the ones you should buy products from. It’s unlikely you will find adulterated or poor quality essential oils from companies who voluntarily undergo third party testing for their products and allow you to view the results. Check the company website to see if the test results are easily available.
