Dog Swimming

Swimming is the perfect activity for all dogs young or old.

Swimming is non-weight bearing and avoids all the stresses and strains of exercising on hard ground.

If your dog suffers from any of these conditions, then warm water swimming can help:

  • Teach them how to enter/exit your pool/boat safely

Then TranquilPET is the place for your dog!

  • I never take my hands off your dog while in pool

Swim Assessment Cost: $125

Benefits to your dog:

  • strengthens their cardio muscle
  • builds up their stamina
  • builds their leg muscle mass

LEARN TO SWIM:

Contrary to popular belief, not all dogs swim instinctively or even enjoy it. I help your dog build their confidence to eliminate their fear of the water and have fun doing it!

Each dog is different — some overcome fears during their first swim. For others, it may take longer — watch Elvis video — Elvis took 9 separate swims before he overcame his fear and started having fun.  Today, he is an expert dock-diver.  (At first, we could not get him in the water ….. today, we cannot keep him out!)

RECREATIONAL SWIM:

This category is for the dog that already knows how to swim and swims for overall fun, fitness & exercise. Recreational swimmers have no medical issues. They may or may not wear a life vest.

Other benefits:  Sometimes I find that a dog prefers swimming with another dog (not just me).  If that is the case with your dog, I may pair with another dog.  This swim still includes all benefits listed above.

(No more than 3 dogs will be allowed in my pool at any given time — and I am always in the pool with them.)

WELLNESS SWIM:

This swim is appropriate for all senior dogs:  arthritic, overweight, and dogs that require low impact workout.

As our dogs age, we become aware that they struggle with long walks.  Swimming replaces those walks as it is non-weight bearing and builds up those leg muscles and improve cardio endurance. This swim is designed to replace those long walks.

This swim requires your vet’s written approval – no exceptions. DOWNLOAD Vet Approval Form

OWN A POOL?

Does your dog know how to get out of your pool?  I have heard too many stories of how a dog fell into a pool and drowned because they did not know where/how to exit. Please do not let this happen to your pet.

I PROVIDE SWIM LESSONS FROM THE CONVENIENCE OF YOUR OWN POOL.

I WILL TEACH YOUR DOG:

  1. How to get in/out of your pool safely
  2. Help them overcome their fear of swimming
  3. Teach you how to swim with your dog (this is only for Recreational Swimming)

Initial Home Visit lasts approximately one hour and prepayment is required.  Contact Jean for further information.
