Animals & Essential Oils: How to Properly and Safety Offer

Home / Animals & Essential Oils: How to Properly and Safety Offer

SAFETY FIRST:

There is a lot of misinformation about the use and safety of essential oils, and much of this relates to ‘fragrance’ or ‘perfume’ grade oils — these types of oils are synthetically manufactured and offer no therapeutic or medicinal results. These are substandard oils and should NEVER be used for on your pets or humans.

During my virtual presentation, you will hear me mention the words “therapeutic-grade” oils which are very different from perfume grade oils and and why.

WHAT/WHERE ARE YOU BUYING?

Synthetic fragrances are dangerous to you and your pet. Over 90% of the chemicals used to create them are derived from petro-chemicals. They include benzene derivatives (carcinogenic), aldehydes, toluene and many other known toxic chemicals linked to cancer, birth defects, central nervous system disorders and allergic reactions.

*Some Criteria to Consider When Choosing Essential Oils:

Third party testing for purity and manufacturing standards. Essential oil companies who voluntarily have their products tested for quality are the ones you should buy products from. It’s unlikely you will find adulterated or poor quality essential oils from companies who voluntarily undergo third party testing for their products and allow you to view the results. Check the company website to see if the test results are easily available.

*Please note: I am ONLY referring to Young Living Essential Oils.

*What is Young Living’s Thieves® … and its uses

Gary Young is the founder of the first essential oil company, Young Living in 1994 and Young Living is considered the leader of the Essential Oil Industry.

Young Living’s proprietary Thieves® essential oil blend was inspired by the legend of four 15th-century French thieves during the Bubonic Plague.  These thieves were robbing those who had succumbed to the illness; however, while being in close proximity to the deceased, they never contracted the Plague.

After the thieves were captured and tried for their acts of robbery, French authorities asked the these thieves what they were doing in order to not contract the disease.  The thieves said they would rub their bodies with a combination of herbs, spices and and essential oils.

From then on, doctors who treated the victims of the Bubonic Plague, packed their masks and doused their long black robes with this concoction.  (Fun fact:  The beak is how doctors got the nickname “quack.”)

Crafted in the spirit of that legendary combination, Young Living’s one-of-a-kind Thieves essential oil blend can be found in all our Thieves products.  Featuring Clove oil, Cinnamon Bark oil, Eucalyptus Radiata oil, Rosemary oil and Lemon oil.  Thieves imparts a spicy, welcoming aroma everywhere it’s used.  Possibly our most versatile and beloved blend, Thieves products replace harsh chemicals with pure, therapeutic-grade essential oils and other naturally derived ingredients.

Thieves™ has almost become something of a generic term to describe any type of antibacterial, immune-boosting blend of essential oils.
