8 Pet-Safe Plants that Purify Your Air

I found the following article, “Indoor Air Pollution is Becoming a Major Problem for Pets by Rodney Habib, of Planet Paws, in which he discusses how household air pollution is up almost 50% and our dogs are suffering the most because of it. Compared to humans, dogs have 6x more airborne household “chemical pollutants” concentrated in their bodies.

In Rodney’s newest book, The Forever Dog, he has dedicated an entire chapter on how to identify and reduce the chemical load in your home, making it a healthier environment for your entire family. Obviously, air purifiers help, but one beautiful way to help improve air quality in your house is by adding lots of PLANTS! Scientists have found in multiple studies that plants can better air quality.

Here are 8 pet-safe-plants that purify your air:

  1. Friendship Plant
  2. Prayer Plant
  3. Wax Plant
  4. Spider Plant
  5. Boston Fern
  6. Chamaedorea
  7. Pilea Pepermodioides
  8. Money Tree

While outdoor pollution levels dropped during the lockdown, new research shows indoor airborne chemicals (Volatile Organic Compounds, or VOCs) sharply increased, more than 50% in some countries, making our homes more polluted than ever!

Inhaling common household pollutants such as aerosol deodorants, hairsprays, perfumes, air fresheners, fabric freshening sprays, scented candles and cleaning sprays & solutions exposes family members to high levels of VOCs and other airborne chemicals within homes.
